Christ's Church - Jeremiah 12:2

Jeremiah 12:2 -- "You have planted them, and they have taken root and prospered. Your name is on their lips, but you are far from their hearts."

The modern church, in many ways, has developed a social club mentality. A group of people come together for a few hours each week to sit in the same building and speak the name of Jesus.

However, when this is the extent of the connection of the church, it becomes more about what to wear, who gives more, who gets more involved, and who will or won't be there, than it is about Jesus, and His love, grace and mercy. Even in the church, sin is present, distracting you from getting closer to God, even as you sing praises to His name.

Jesus planted the church, creating a great fellowship of people who have grown and prospered. Though those people speak the name of Jesus and go to worship Him, He is far from their hearts now.

Sin raises a barrier between you and God. When that barrier remain even during time of worship, it is impossible to stay in a close personal relationship with the Lord. You must examine yourself in these environments and find people who you can be genuine around. When you love and encourage each other, helping one another keep Christ as the center of your lives, you have found the true church, the one Jesus meant for His people.
