Spiritual Warfare - Galatians 5:17

Galatians 5:17 -- "For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want."

The natural desires you have in the world and the Holy Spirit in you are constantly fighting each other. This is our spiritual warfare - the enemy and our sinful nature are always at odds with God and the Spirit.

There is an unseen war going on and it is happening everyday. Sometimes we are innately aware of it, feeling the effects and anticipating the attacks. However, most of the time we are unaware of it happening at all. We call it good days and bad days, intense moments, coincidences or even simply ordinary.

While those two sides of ourselves are at odds, our good intentions are blocked by anxiety, anger and sin. It is when we give ourselves faithfully over to Christ and obey His leading that we conquer our sinful desires and walk in the way of the Lord.

It takes constant renewal and an ever present choice to obey God, but when we are faithful to the Spirit, there is nothing that we can't do through God who strengthens us.
