Let Peace Rule

Colossians 3:15 -- “And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.”

Right now is the end of football season and we are rooting hard for our team! Each team playing brings passion and talent to the field. However, when the games starts the two teams clash for field position with the intent of scoring.

There is a similar battle going on in each one of us. The first team consists of our fears, distrust and jealousy -- the second team consists of our hopes, trust and love. These two teams contain our feelings and desires and they clash on the battlefield constantly, always intending on scoring.

It is here that Paul describes the referee -- Christ. In football, the referees keep the peace, making sure the two teams play fair. When Christ rules over our hearts we may live in peace because he will referee the conflicting feelings and desires of our heart.

Dear Lord,
I want to live in peace. Help me to give Christ the position of referee over the conflicting feelings and desires in my heart.
