Choose To Obey God - Genesis 2:16-17

Genesis 2:16-17 -- "But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die."

God created us because He loves us. He wants us to trust Him and always obey, even if it doesn't always make sense in a worldly perspective.

God gave Adam and Eve a choice in the Garden of Eden. He gave them plenty of food to eat so they would never lack in anything. However, there was one limitation - do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God warned them that eating from this tree would have disastrous consequences.

God gives us a choice in everything. To obey Him or to disobey. We choose to follow Him or follow the world. Adam and Eve made the wrong choice. They choose to obey their own whim. And just as God warned, there were consequences. Their consequences were so severe that they still affect us today.

Our worldly choices often lead to sin, which separates us from God. The Lord created us and since we are His children, there is a need to be close to Him. When we are separated from Him the world seems a little darker, a little more dangerous and at times hopeless. However, Jesus is light, He brings protection and offers hope.

God gives us choices. It is our choice to follow Him or the world. However, God wants to be close to us and He wants us to choose Him. By choosing Him, He grants us peace and joy even while we are surrounded by chaos. By choosing Him, we shed light onto the darkness. When you have a choice, always choose to obey God.
