Impossible to Hide from God - Genesis 3:8

Genesis 3:8 - "When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees."

After sinning Adam and Eve saw God coming and felt ashamed. They tried to hid from Him, but God is all-seeing and all-knowing and hiding from God is impossible. God knew what Adam and Eve had done, but He still went to them, allowing them to tell him. That is what God wants, a relationship with us. That means we have to be honest with Him and admit when we mess up.

When we sin, it is hard to admit what we did wrong. We feel ashamed and want to hide, just like Adam and Eve did. However, when we want to hide is when we need to go to God and confess. That feel of shame means sin has separated us from God in some way. It is the conscious in us that lets us know what is right and wrong.

We are human and we all fall short. We all sin. However, God forgives us when we go to Him in honest and confess our sin. But that is not enough, we also must repent. That means we turn from our sin and do it no more. When we confess and repent to the Lord, we are cleansed of our sin and are once again innocent in God’s eyes.

God doesn’t want us to continually be ashamed. We may have to face consequences for our actions, but that does not lessen God’s forgiveness or His love for us. He wants us to learn the right way to go and move forward in wisdom, growing stronger in faith and closer to Him.
